Singer Kim Jae-joong defrauded of funds via hacked Kakao Pay account after failed customer service resolution

Singer Kim Jae-joong reported that hackers accessed and altered his Kakao Pay account in May 2025. On May 7, he shared on the fan platform Fromm that his account password had been changed without his knowledge. He contacted Kakao Pay’s customer service but was repeatedly transferred between departments without resolution. After nearly an hour on the phone, he was unable to resolve the issue and had to disconnect due to work commitments. Two days later, Kim successfully canceled and deleted the account after a day and a half of effort. He described the experience as "truly a frightening experience."
