A Millsboro, Delaware woman named Katrina Dixon-Parker fell victim to employment fraud in November 2024. Scammers posing as recruiters from IBSA Pharma contacted her on LinkedIn and conducted a phone interview and written assessment. The scammers then sent her a check and instructed her to deposit it and purchase an Apple MacBook Pro to be sent back, which she recognized as suspicious. After contacting the real IBSA Pharma human resources department and her bank, she confirmed the job offer was fraudulent. The scammers used fake email addresses with the domain @ibsacareers.com, mimicking the real IBSA Pharma domain @ibsapharma.com. Although she was not financially scammed, the experience left her heartbroken and prompted her to seek new job opportunities.
