67-year-old businessman loses RM5.3 million to fake investment scheme via WhatsApp and primuspacificpartners.biz website

A 67-year-old businessman lost RM5.3 million after falling victim to a fake investment scheme advertised through the Google app. The scam involved a fake platform called Primus Pacific Partners, and the victim was contacted by a woman claiming to be an investment coach named "Ms Ng" via WhatsApp. The man was added to a WhatsApp group and given investment instructions before registering on the website primuspacificpartners.biz. He initially received a return of RM24,308.48 and later made 13 fund transfers totalling RM5.3 million to three different bank accounts. When he attempted to withdraw his profits, he was told to pay various tax charges. Police have opened an investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
