61-year-old man loses ₹1.36 crore in stock market scam via fraudulent ASK-IATOP app after Facebook ad 35-year-old mobile shop owner loses ₹1.38 lakh after WhatsApp-sent fake PM-Kisan Yojana App hacks phone

A 61-year-old man from Seawoods lost over Rs 1.36 crore in a stock market scam after being lured by a Facebook ad promoting high returns. He downloaded a fraudulent app called ASK-IATOP, where scammers posing as financial advisors tricked him into transferring funds between March 17 and April 30. The app falsely displayed profits of Rs 6.08 crore, but when he tried to withdraw, he was asked to pay additional “income tax.” A separate case involved a 35-year-old mobile shop owner in Turbhe who lost Rs 1.38 lakh after opening a fake “PM-Kisan Yojana App” APK file sent via WhatsApp by Azam Ansari. The file hacked his phone and enabled unauthorized purchases on Flipkart using his credit card. Both cases are under investigation, with authorities urging caution regarding suspicious apps and investment offers.
