Bahraini woman loses 16 BHD to fake Instagram Eid dress scam via WhatsApp payment after providing personal details

A Bahraini woman fell victim to an online scam after purchasing an Eid dress from a fake Instagram account. She paid 16 BHD via BenefitPay after providing personal details through WhatsApp. No delivery was made, and attempts to contact the seller failed, with messages undelivered and calls unanswered. The woman’s daughter attempted to contact the seller and confirmed the account was fraudulent, as it responded only when approached with a new order request. The scammer is believed to be stealing money and then blocking victims. The victim reported the incident to Bahrain’s Cyber Police, and several others have shared similar experiences online. Authorities are investigating the case.
