Minnesota Vikings linebacker loses $240,000 to bank fraud impersonation scam
Summary
Minnesota Vikings second-year linebacker Dallas Turner lost $240,000 after falling victim to a bank fraud scheme. On February 19, Turner was contacted by a scammer impersonating a JPMorgan Chase banker, who claimed someone was attempting to impersonate him at a Chase Bank branch in Arizona. The fraudster instructed Turner to transfer his funds to two business accounts to "protect" them from fraudulent activity. On the same day, Turner transferred $120,000 to Island Vibes Food Truck LLC at a Chase Bank in Eagan and another $120,000 to CNL of FL LLC at a Chase Bank in West St. Paul. As of July 7, Turner had recovered just over $2,450 of the stolen amount. Eagan police are investigating the case and have identified leads that could lead to formal charges.
