580 Divjaka residents defrauded in XUEX Telegram pyramid scheme after operators block all withdrawals
Summary
Approximately 580 residents of Divjaka, Albania — including municipal employees — invested between $1,000 and $5,000 each in the XUEX platform, an online pyramid scheme operating via Telegram groups and a fraudulent Binance imitation app. Recruitment was conducted openly through word of mouth and at local bars and restaurants. Victims were promised profits withdrawable every 45 days. In August 2025, platform operators blocked all withdrawals, leaving investors unable to recover their funds. Albanian MP Erion Braçe raised public alarm on August 29, 2025. Police arrested 6 people on September 14, 2025 after undercover agents infiltrated recruitment sessions. Total losses ran to several million euros across the Divjaka, Lushnja, and Fier regions.
