The scam began in December when she commented on what appeared to be Jagger’s Facebook account and later received a message from an account claiming to be his manager, Yvonne Meyer. The scammer offered a fraudulent investment opportunity in which the woman sent a total of 120,500 yen (approximately $804) through bank transfers and convenience store purchases of electronic money. The scammer then stopped responding after promising to return the money multiplied. The woman later reported the incident to the police, who are investigating it as a romance scam.
