Summary

A female Immigration Bureau (IB) officer in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, committed suicide on March 24 by jumping in front of a train. The victim had a Telegram chat with Sukanth Suresh, a former IB officer accused of rape and abetting her suicide, in which he allegedly urged her to end her life so he could marry another person. The chat was recovered from Sukanth’s phone, as the victim’s phone was damaged beyond data retrieval. The police allege that the victim was physically and financially exploited by Sukanth, leading to her suicide. Sukanth is currently absconding, and the High Court has barred his arrest until Monday while considering his anticipatory bail plea.
