He relaxed on holiday with influencer girlfriend, but her Instagram posts led to his death
Summary
A 28-year-old Ukrainian businessman's son, Igor Komarov, was kidnapped and later found dismembered in Bali after his location was allegedly traced through geotagged Instagram posts shared by his influencer girlfriend. The couple had been vacationing on the island, and investigators believe that the kidnappers used location data from Yeva Mishalova’s frequent social media updates to track Igor. After weeks of surveillance, armed men ambushed Igor while he was riding a motorcycle with friends. In a ransom video, Igor described being tortured and warned that his captors had no intention of being tracked. Despite a ransom demand of around £7 million, Igor was killed, and his remains were later discovered in a river. A rental car and villa linked to the crime were identified through DNA and CCTV evidence, leading to the arrest of a suspect who had rented the vehicle using a forged passport. Six additional foreign nationals were later named as suspects in the case.
