Worcester man loses iPhone in Facebook Marketplace counterfeit money scam
Summary
A man in Worcester fell victim to a Facebook Marketplace scam when three men handed him £500 in counterfeit £20 notes in exchange for his iPhone. The scam occurred outside his home on Oak Tree Crescent on October 14, just after 9pm. Leciu Vanentin only realized the money was fake after the men had taken his phone. The counterfeit notes had identical serial numbers and an off-colour appearance. Mr Vanentin was later blocked on Facebook by the scammers and has reported the incident to West Mercia Police. The police confirmed they are investigating the counterfeit money report.
