35-year-old Hyderabad woman defrauded of ₹8.75 lakh via Telegram job scam involving fictitious hotel booking tasks

Summary

A woman in Hyderabad was defrauded of over ₹8.75 lakh in an online job scam orchestrated by four individuals who posed as representatives of a reputed company. The victim was contacted on January 2 via Telegram by someone claiming to be an HR executive from “Accor Advantage Plus Marketing (India) Pvt. Ltd.” and was asked to complete trial tasks involving hotel bookings. She was initially given small returns after investing ₹10,000, which built her trust, and was later encouraged to invest larger sums. The scammers introduced fictitious tasks and balances, eventually persuading her to deposit ₹7.91 lakh as a security amount for a promised earning of ₹15.82 lakh, which never materialised. The accused were identified as Manoj Diwakar, Nagiri Vijay, Sanapathi Kishore Babu, and Thirunagari Santosh Kumar. A case has been registered under Sections 66C and 66D of the IT Act and various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
