City resident duped of Rs 6.67 lakh in online trading scam

On May 12, he received a WhatsApp call from an unknown number claiming to represent a share market trading company. The caller provided a registration link and instructed him to transfer funds, promising high returns. After initial small investments and fake profits, he was asked to invest Rs 3 lakh and later Rs 3.6 lakh. The fraudsters then demanded an additional Rs 22 lakh for an IPO, but when the victim refused and asked for his money back, they continued to pressure him. Realizing he had been deceived, he filed a complaint with the cyber police, who registered a case and are tracing the transactions.
