Summary

A 16-year-old boy in Singapore used a fake Instagram account to impersonate a woman named “Bella” and trick another teenager into performing lewd acts during video calls, which he recorded. Between February and December 2023, the offender, who is now 18, misled the victim into believing they were in a romantic relationship and asked him to perform various inappropriate acts. The victim was also forced to send iTunes gift cards and cash worth $390 and later extorted for $2,450 through threats to circulate the recorded videos. The offender collected cash payments, including one instance where the victim hid $100 in a book at a Tampines Mall Popular bookstore. A friend of the offender, identified as “W1,” assisted in the extortion and received a share of the proceeds. The victim reported the extortion to police on June 8, 2024, and the offender was arrested two days later.
