15-year-old girl nearly scammed for bank details via Vinted message leading to account deletion

A 15-year-old girl in Northwich, Cheshire, nearly fell victim to an online scam on the Vinted platform when a scammer sent her a suspicious link asking for her bank details. The girl was using Vinted to sell a top and received a message offering to pay the full asking price, followed by a link to an external website. She entered her card details and was then asked about the balance in her account before being prompted to add another card linked to a larger sum. The scam was stopped when her mother overheard the conversation and intervened. Vinted requires users to be at least 18 years old to create an account and advises against off-platform communication. As a result, the girl’s account was deleted, and she was temporarily barred from selling items online.
