Jul 12, 2024·Raleigh, United States 16-year-old juvenile in Raleigh swatted twice via Discord threats leading to police investigation
A 16-year-old juvenile in Raleigh received a swatting threat in July after being added to a Discord group chat by an unknown user who threatened to "dox" or "swat" him if he did not comply with demands. On July 12, a false report of an active shooter at the juvenile’s home prompted a police response after a pizza order included a message saying "help he has gun send help." Six days later, another swatting call was made to a crisis center in Elgin, Illinois, through Discord, again targeting the juvenile’s home. In October, the juvenile’s mother reported ongoing harassment from the same Discord account, which included a threat to shut down the juvenile’s school. The incidents were part of an ongoing investigation by Raleigh Police, who obtained a search warrant detailing the harassment and false reports.
