Seattle resident banned from Madison Square Garden venue after t-shirt design linked via facial recognition to 2021 incident he did not attend

A Seattle resident named Frank Miller was banned from a Madison Square Garden (MSG) venue in New York in early 2024 after attempting to attend a show at Radio City Music Hall. Miller was not present at an MSG venue in 2021, but he was informed by security that he was banned due to an incident from that year. Miller had designed a t-shirt in 2017 reading “Ban Dolan” in the style of the New York Knicks logo, which a friend wore to an MSG event in 2021 and was subsequently banned. MSG claimed Miller had made threats against an executive and produced offensive merchandise, violating their code of conduct. Miller had not worn the shirt to any MSG venue and had no prior incidents at the venue in over a decade. The incident is part of a broader pattern of individuals critical of MSG CEO James Dolan being banned, with facial recognition and surveillance systems used to enforce these bans.
