27-year-old Begumpet resident loses ₹3.5 lakh in Telegram-based Goibibo impersonation scam

A 27-year-old resident of Begumpet lost over ₹3.5 lakh in a Telegram-based scam. The fraudsters posed as representatives of Goibibo’s promotions department, offering quick commissions through hotel rating tasks. The victim received a message on Telegram and a follow-up WhatsApp call from individuals claiming to represent “Goibibo India Promotions.” Small commissions of ₹970 and ₹17,109 were initially paid to create an illusion of legitimacy. The scam was reported on July 3, 2025.
